It all has to do with grilled chicken pieces in a rich tomato-based sauce for a meal with an amazing flavor that you will want to eat again and again.

Serve it with rice for a wonderful meal full of flavor!

CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA:

  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree, tomato paste
  • ¼ a cup of canned tomatoes or 2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons tika masala mixture (optional)
  • ¾ cup fresh cream
  • γ teaspoon garam masala (optional)
  • Salt
  • Water
  • rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl. Rub with lemon juice and enough salt. Marinate for 10 minutes in the fridge.
  2. Meanwhile, place the tika masala, garam masala, and yogurt mixture in a blender.
  3. Mix well. Add this paste to the chicken bowl. Add oil and mix well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight if possible.
  4. When ready, preheat the grill. Cut the chicken pieces into skewers. Grill, turning occasionally, for 15 - 20 minutes or until cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skewers. Set them aside.
  5. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onions. Saute for 2-3 minutes or until lightly browned. Add the tomato paste and fry for a few seconds. Now add the tomatoes. Saute until soft and fluffy. Bring to the boil, lower the heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add lemon juice and sour cream. Add enough water to make a thick sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes. Add more water if needed.
  7. Stir in the grilled chicken. Serve with rice.
