Studies have been conducted in Italy of various essential oils and their effects on bacterial infections, especially of breasts in animals. The findings showed that fennel essential oil and cinnamon oil, for example, produced antibacterial activity, and therefore represent possible ways to treat certain bacterial strains. In addition, fennel essential oil has certain compounds that help protect wounds from infection.
In addition to preventing infection, it can also speed up wound healing, so if you want to treat a cut, for example, fennel is a good natural choice.
Intestinal cramps can be extremely painful, causing coughing, hiccups, cramps in the intestinal tract and convulsions. Fennel essential oil can have a relaxing effect on your body, including the muscles in the intestinal tract. This relaxation of the bowel can really make a difference if you endure a spasmodic attack, giving you quick relief from muscle spasms in the bowel.
Fennel essential oil is a high antioxidant compound that has antimicrobial properties. A study published in the Flavor and Fragrance Journal examined the activity of the essential oil from seeds originating in Pakistan. Analysis of fennel essential oil showed that there are about 23 compounds with impressive amounts of total phenolic and bioflavonoids.
This means that fennel fights free radical damage and provides antimicrobial activity against certain strains of bacteria and pathogenic fungi.
While many vegetables can cause stomach cramps, gas and bloating, especially when eaten raw, fennel and fennel essential oils can do the opposite. Fennel essential oil can help clear the intestines, relieve constipation and get rid of gas and bloating, providing the necessary relief. Surprisingly, it can even help eliminate the formation of additional gases.
If you have chronic gas problems, fennel can do the trick. You can add one or two drops of fennel essential oil to your favorite tea to see if it helps.
There are many herbs that are known to help with digestion and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) with common characteristics such as bitter, very aromatic and rather spicy. Ginger, mint, anise and chamomile are some examples other than fennel. Fennel goes a little deeper into this category because it is a volatile oil, which means it evaporates quickly, passing easily in the form of vapors and, therefore, probably provides relief sooner rather than later. This procedure is part of what helps with digestion and IBS symptoms. As mentioned above, fennel essential oil helps relieve gas, bloating and constipation, but can also help eliminate diarrhea.
In particular, the main volatile fennel oil is known as anethole. Anethole is pretty amazing, even as a potential cancer fighter. It does this by preventing the activation of a "gene that causes inflammation that alters the gene associated with cancer known as NF-kappaB." You can simply rub two drops of fennel in combination with carrier oil on your belly for quick relief.
Fennel essential oil can help support weight loss because it can boost your metabolism while suppressing your appetite.
Fennel also has the ability to help minimize fat deposits in the bloodstream using stored energy sources. Eating a balanced diet is the best approach to any weight loss - so I recommend adding small amounts of fennel to your diet with other foods and teas.
