Its Latin name refers to absinthe, a highly addictive 19th-century French drink whose main ingredient was distilled Absinthe oil.

Acts as a tonic for the liver, digestive system and nerves.
Stimulates the uterus and eliminates intestinal worms.
Absinthe tea increases appetite, improves digestion, helps with heartburn and gastritis with reduced acidity, as a mild laxative.
It is useful in partial liver failure and is used for diabetes.
Helps in gynecological problems, uterine bleeding and leukorrhea. It is a good antipyretic and expectorant in cases of colds, shortness of breath, inflammation of the upper respiratory tract and cough.

Scientists have published in the journal Life Sciences, a study according to which artemisinin (a substance contained in the herb), in combination with iron, can kill 98% of breast cancer cells in 16 hours. The article specifically states that while administering the herb to breast cancer patients, they observed a 28% reduction in cancer cells.
