The name Lamio comes from the Greek word laimos due to the characteristic shape of its flower. The name Archangel is due to the flowering of the plant around the date of celebration of the Archangel Michael.
Its use dates back to the Middle Ages. Since then they have used Lamio to normalize menstrual flow problems and relieve menstrual cramps.
The herb acts as an astringent, expectorant, hemostatic, antispasmodic, anti-cancer, diuretic, hypnotic and tonic.
The infusion of the flowering tops of the plant is indicated against leukorrhea, uterine bleeding and prostate. The anti-inflammatory action of the plant is mainly due to the histamine it contains. This substance helps the immune system to fight infections such as leukorrhea, which usually results from infection of the vagina with germs or fungi.
It is mainly used as a uterine tonic to control menstrual bleeding and reduce excessive menstrual flow.
Its tea is soothing and helps us sleep well, cleanses the blood, has expectorant properties and reduces infections, especially of the urethra and prostate.
Its decoction helps against pigs (hardening of the throat glands) and bleeding, while in external use it is applied with compresses on wounds, abscesses and varicose veins.
Externally also used for washes in aphrodisiac diseases.
In the burns can be used ointment with the gelatinous substance that is formed if we boil the plant for a long time and then let it soak for a few hours in its liquid.
The infusion of its flowers and leaves of herb in distilled water is a very good lotion for eye washes.
In homeopathy they use a tincture against respiratory catarrh, bronchitis and dysmenorrhea.
It is also used to treat bladder and kidney problems and amenorrhea.
