Iris is included in breast emollient recipes.

It is beneficial as an expectorant and therefore useful for coughs.

We also use it for constipation, diarrhea and as a diuretic for gallbladder and spleen disorders.

Internally it is still used for psoriasis, acne, herpes and migraine due to liver dysfunction.

Against arthritis and swollen glands, septic conditions and vaginal inflammation.

It acts as an antispasmodic for pain in the heart, stomach, intestines, joints and toothaches.

The root decoction is taken as an antidote for mushroom poisoning.

We do not use it during pregnancy.
