This medium-sized annual can boast of the great Greek capital in its history, but today we use its seeds only to season the pastourma with their characteristic aroma.

Externally the seeds are emollient and accelerate the healing of perforation and infections.

They can be used as a poultice (wrapped in cloth) for abscesses or pimples, burns, treatment of local pain and swelling (inflammation), muscle pain, pain and swelling of the lymph nodes (lymphadenitis), pain in the fingers (gout), sores, ulcers feet, eczema, etc., or for washing in cases of excessive vaginal secretions.

Finally, it is used to treat cellulite.
