Benefits of black cumin oil:
1) Asthma
In a study, black cumin taken orally for 4 weeks improved asthma control. Scientists have also noticed a trend in improving lung function.
Reduce the frequency of asthma symptoms, wheezing and improved lung function for 3 months. Patients receiving black cumin seed extract also had a reduced need for additional drugs and inhalers.
2) Diabetes
In a study of 60 patients with insulin resistance, black cumin (5 ml daily) improved blood glucose levels. However, it has only been used here as an adjunct to glucose and lipid-lowering drugs (metformin and atorvastatin)
Several major analyzes of thousands of people have shown that black cumin may be a good complementary strategy for keeping glucose levels under control, especially in people with type 2 diabetes. It has helped lower both blood glucose and lipids. in the blood, possibly with long-term benefits (also reducing HBA1C).
In a study of 114 patients, 2 g of black cumin seeds daily for one year reduced lipids, blood pressure and BMI.
If you are already taking medication for diabetes, be sure to talk to your doctor before supplementing with black cumin.
3) High blood pressure
Daily use of black seed extract for 2 months reduced blood pressure in patients with slightly elevated blood pressure (systolic BP 140 - 159 mmHg). The test group received either 100 mg or 200 mg of the extract twice daily. In addition to lowering blood pressure, the extract also lowered "bad" LDL cholesterol, which can clog blood vessels.
In a different study of 70 healthy volunteers, the oil lowered blood pressure after 2 months. No side effects were reported. The treated group received 2.5 ml of black seed oil twice daily [11].
4) Male infertility
In a single, small study of 68 infertile men, daily intake of 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of black seed oil for two months improved sperm quality without adverse effects.
In diabetic rats, black seeds increased testosterone. It also improved sperm quality and motility in another rat study, possibly due to its antioxidant activity.
5) Chest pain
Mastalgia is a chest pain that may or may not be related to the menstrual cycle in women.
In a clinical study of 52 women, a gel containing 30% black seed oil was applied to the sore spot twice daily for two menstrual cycles to reduce breast pain by approximately 82%.
Remember to talk to a doctor before taking black oil supplements. Black seed should never be used as a substitute for approved medical treatments.
6) Allergies and Hayfever
Some studies in small people show that black seed can help reduce allergic symptoms, especially in people with respiratory problems.
A review (from 4 studies, a total of 152 patients with allergic diseases) concluded that black cumin oil can help with allergies. When used as an adjunct to conventional therapy, it has reduced subjective allergy symptoms such as asthma, eczema and nasal congestion. [21] In another study of 66 patients with allergic rhinitis, black oil reduced symptoms such as itching, runny nose, sneezing and congestion after 2 weeks. .
7) High blood lipids
A review of clinical trials (SR-MA, 17 RCTs) concluded that black seed supplements may help reduce:
Total cholesterol
LDL cholesterol
Triglycerides
Black seed oil has a stronger effect on reducing lipids than powder.
How it works
Based on available scientific evidence, black seed can protect the heart up to [13, 28]:
Flushing excess fluid from the body (diuretic)
Reduce battle or flight response (nice)
Increase in nitric oxide that relaxes blood vessels a vessels
Reduction of blood lipids
Works as an antioxidant
8) Inflammation
Black cumin seed (thymoquinone) has many promising anti-inflammatory properties. Some people think it's good for both Th1 and Th2 dominance, though the evidence is missing.
Studies have shown that black oil can help with inflammatory conditions such as arthritis. The anti-inflammatory potential of black cumin has been attributed to the active ingredient, thymoquinone.
Black cumin essential oil reduces inflammation and pain. It also reduces autoimmune inflammation of the brain with multiple sclerosis.
Some scientists believe it can reduce inflammation in the brain by blocking NF-κB and preventing immune cells from making more nitric oxide, which is overproduced in inflammation and autoimmune diseases.
9) Alarm
Black cumin seeds reduced stress and improved mood and cognition in a study of 48 adolescent male volunteers after 4 weeks.
Black seed extract reduced stress by increasing serotonin levels in the brain. It also reduces stress and fatigue and increases thyroid function.
Black cumin seed calmed and protected the growing brain in rats, even those under stress.
Some scientists believe that black seed can reduce stress thanks to its active ingredient, thymoquinone, which increased GABA.
10) Memory
In a study of 20 elderly volunteers, 1 g of black cumin seed daily improved cognition, attention and memory after nine weeks.
Thymoquinone and other components of black cumin seeds protected the brain from damage in various studies in cell studies. Prevents brain damage from lead.
11) Indigestion
A tincture made from the seeds is traditionally used for indigestion, loss of appetite and diarrhea, while black seeds are traditionally used to stop vomiting.
In a study of 88 patients with indigestion, black seed helped eliminate bacteria and symptoms.
Some reviews suggest that it may also help protect the stomach from damage and ulcers, mainly based on findings from animal studies and clinical experience.
Black cumin seed protected the lining of the stomach from the harmful effects of alcohol on rats. The oils also prevented the destruction of the intestine in rats.
12) Weight loss
In a study of overweight men, black seed improved weight loss and reduced appetite after 3 months.
13) Hepatitis C
Black cumin seed improved symptoms and reduced viral load in hepatitis C patients in a study of 30 people [53].
In another study of 75 patients with hepatitis C, only black seed (500 mg) or in combination with ginger (500 mg) had similar beneficial effects [54].
14) Arthritis
Black cumin seeds (thymoquinone) reduced the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis in a study of 40 female patients at a dose of 500 mg of 2X oil per day. Reduce overall symptoms, joint stiffness and swelling [55].
15) Seizures
A black oil compound called thymoquinone reduced seizures in children with epilepsy in a pilot study of 22 children.
16) Opioid dependence
Black Seed helped reduce the symptoms of opioid dependence in a study of 35 opioid-dependent patients. It also helps reduce weakness, infections and improve appetite.
17) Antioxidant defense
Cell studies show that black seed acts on the following antioxidant pathways:
Increase in liver antioxidant enzymes, such as glutathione
Protect various tissues from oxidative damage, such as stomach, liver, kidneys and blood vessels
Decrease in homocysteine
18) Infections
Traditionally, people apply black seed oil to the skin to prevent infections and pain relief.
Antibacterial
Some scientists have found that black cumin seeds act against:
Staphylococcus aureus, a common cause of skin infections.
MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), a major problem when it comes to nosocomial infections that are difficult to treat.
H.pylori, a common cause of stomach ulcers.
The formation of "Biofilms".
Antifungal
The effect of black cumin seeds on fungal infections is being investigated. Some extracts were active against Candida albicans.
Black seed oil is also protected against mold (aflatoxicosis).
Antiviral
Black seed has helped fight the herpes zoster virus (CMV).
Antiparasitic
Black seed helped clear a parasite that causes malaria in mice.
Oil can protect against a parasite that damages the liver in mice.
In test tubes, black seeds protect against many parasites that can cause serious intestinal problems in humans.
19) Immunological aid
Cell studies show that the possible effects of black seed on boosting the immune system may be due to its active ingredient, thymoquinone. In cell studies, it increased immune cell activity and antibody levels.
20) Kidney Health
Black cumin seeds are traditionally used to treat and prevent kidney stones.
Help fight kidney stones in rats and protect kidneys from damage and injury.
21) Milk production while breastfeeding
Traditionally, black seed has been used to help increase milk production during breastfeeding in breastfeeding mothers. Human studies have not tested this claim.
22) Muscle relaxation
Black seed reduced muscle spasms in various studies.
It only affects smooth muscles such as the heart, intestines and airways. This is why black cumin is used for asthma, breathing difficulties, bowel problems, high blood pressure and possibly urinary tract problems.
It works by blocking the effects of calcium on tissues and blocking histamine and cholinergic pathways.
Side effects
When used in small amounts for cooking, black oil is probably safe for most people.
However, there is limited research on the long-term safety of consuming higher doses for therapeutic purposes.
Generally, short-term use of 3 months or less has not been associated with serious side effects.
There is also concern that excessive intake of black oil could damage your kidneys.
In one reported case, a woman with type 2 diabetes was hospitalized for acute renal failure after taking 2-2.5 grams of black seed capsules daily for 6 days.
However, other studies have not shown adverse effects on kidney health. In fact, some studies have even shown that black seed oil has a protective effect on kidney function.
If you have current kidney problems, it is recommended that you talk to your doctor before taking black seed oil.
Finally, due to limited research, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid using black oil, except in small quantities as a food flavoring.
