It is a plant most commonly cultivated in Southeast Asia.

Traditional ancient communities have used this plant for centuries as a tea for its powerful antioxidants and health benefits, and topically for its beautifying and healing properties.

Traditionally, the Butterfly Pea Flower is said to be ruled by the planet Venus and associated with the element of water, which gives it the qualities of love, emotion, peace and protection.

This plant is special for a number of reasons, but a large aspect of its recent popularity comes from its transformative nature. When steeped in boiling water, the Butterfly Pea flower has an intense blue color, which in itself is unique compared to other teas.

The magic comes when lemon, or another form of acidity, is added and turns the tea from blue to bright violet. The lemon changes the pH level of the tea, leading to the color change.

In addition to being made into tea, it has become a staple for expert bartenders and chefs who use it to shock patrons with natural color-changing cocktails or brightly colored foods.

PROPERTIES

It is extremely rich in antioxidant compounds that have been shown to relieve inflammation and prevent the growth of cancer cells. It is also rich in other healing antioxidants, which are responsible for fighting cancer cells, as well as being anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antiviral.

It is best known in the Indian Ayurvedic system of medicine as a brain herb, used for centuries to enhance memory, treat anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress and Alzheimer's, as well as simply providing a general stimulation of the brain.

Helps in the treatment of glaucoma, retinal damage, blurred vision and tired eyes. It has also been shown to enhance night vision and generally protect the eyes from potential damage.

Hippocrates concluded that it is compatible with women's health since its appearance is similar to that of the female clitoris, hence the name Clitoria Ternatea. It has proven to be a useful treatment for problems with menstruation or vaginal discharge, as well as helping with normal sperm production and even as a powerful aphrodisiac.

It has also proven to be excellent at stabilizing blood sugar levels through its ability to inhibit glucose uptake. Reports show that this flower is able to protect against cell damage and diabetes.

It has incredible benefits when used topically. According to studies, it has been shown to increase skin hydration by 70% just one hour after application. This is because the flower contains antioxidants, polyphenols and flavonoids, which stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin.

This flower helps in the treatment of respiratory diseases. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it has been shown to reduce irritation of the lungs and other respiratory organs. It also helps drain excess fluid build-up, making it an excellent remedy for colds and coughs.

It contains a powerful bioflavonoid called anthocyanin, which increases blood flow to the scalp. This increased blood flow leads to the strengthening of hair follicles and hair growth. It also darkens the hair, reducing the growth of gray hair.

Its anti-inflammatory properties soothe the stomach muscles, relieving nausea and indigestion. It has anthelmintic properties that help prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. It also stimulates the flow of bile from the liver, so it acts as a mild laxative.
